The University of Minnesota Crookston offers over 50 total educational programs ranging from majors to certificates. It also has programs for those who are undeclared, speak English as a second language or are a part of the United States Navy. The types of programs available to students include Aviation, Criminal Justice, Equine Science, Golf and Turf Management and Natural Resources. The online classes are include Applied Health, Business and Manufacturing Management.

The Crookston campus is unique because it caters to the area that it resides in. The programs that are offered are jobs that are in high demand in Minnesota and the surrounding areas. This doesn't mean that you won't receive quality education. Rather, you'll receive specialized education, because the college has clear ties to its community. Many of its alumni have gone out into the world and become successful with the education they have received from UMC.

UMC has affordable tuition rates. One of the things that makes it stand out about its tuition is that there is a cap on how much the university charges its students. Anything over 13 credit hours is free. So students who take advantage of this will only spend so much money every semester. In fact, in 4 years a student can save $20,000 if he takes regularly takes advantage of this arrangement every semester. Students who take less than 13 credit hours are billed for each individual credit, which can add up significantly down the line.

They also offer what is called a Specialty Scholarship. This Scholarship is funded by private donors who wish to reward students directly. Students are randomly selected for college achievements. These achievements can range anywhere from grades to extracurricular activities, community activists and displaying leadership skills. Financial need isn't a requirement for most students who apply for the scholarship, and several scholarships are awarded every year.

UMC offers a free pre-evaluation test for students who wish to take advantage of their online degree programs. This test allows students to see if they are better suited for distance learning or attending classes on campus. The online learning website lists announcements for students both currently enrolled and interested in enrolling. There is also live chat available for those who need their questions answered right away. The online classes do fall under the 13 credit cap the college sets; however there is also an additional fee charged per credit for taking online classes.
